The biggest little city in the world has just become a little more Uncommon. Moving to another country is exciting and we want to make this move as smooth possible. As a world adventurer you may have some questions, and we are here to answer them. If you are an international student moving to Reno for school, find some answers to frequently asked questions below:

How do you get to the property from the airport?

If you are flying into the Reno-Tahoe International Airport there is a ride sharing app called Uber that would be more than happy to drive you 15 minutes down the road straight to Uncommon.  

Where do you go to get US currency?

In case that you need help converting your currency to US currency there is a Travelex Currency Exchange 10 minutes away from this student housing complex in Reno, Nevada.

Where can you open a U.S. bank account?

As an international student, you may need quick access to your funds. If you are thinking of opening a U.S. bank account, there are two options that are less than 10 minutes away from the UNR apartments. Wells Fargo and the Heritage Bank of Nevada are two banks around Reno that are beneficial for you.

Where do you go to get a US phone?

We both know that international rates get expensive. Just know that there are plenty of phone companies that are here to cater to you. Some of the best options in Reno are: AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. You can find any of these stores close the Reno Nevada apartments.

Where do you go to shop for household items?

At Uncommon we offer a fully furnished space, but we know you may need more things to make your space your home, as natural, active, and adventurous as you are. For decorations and other smaller appliances you may need two retailers such as Target and Walmart are here to assist you in getting acclimated into your new Reno Nevada apartment.

Where do you go to shop for groceries?

We won’t allow the wolf pack to go hungry! Reno has grocery stores that are right around the corner from Uncommon. Walmart and Raley’s are two good grocery stores that are close to the Reno Nevada apartments and also double as a pharmacy to help out when you are sick.

Where do you go/what do you do for fun?

As Uncommoners, we see the fun in every setting. There are plenty of Uncommon sites to see in Reno, Nevada. Campus is constantly howling with Sporting events year-round to attend too. Outside of campus, this big little city is busy with a lot of unique sites. The National Automobile Museum, Nevada Art Museum, Fleischman Planetarium, and Mt. Rose ski resort are all areas of Reno that are just waiting to be discovered by you.

Where do you go for health care?

In case of an emergency, it is important to know where your nearest health facilities are in the area. For health care issues or non-emergencies you can always visit Saint Mary’s and Renown Health Urgent Care. In the event of an emergency, know that you can always dial ‘911’ and you will be connected to an emergency operator.

How do you qualify for an apartment?

In order to qualify for an apartment at Uncommon Reno as an international student, you will need the following:

  • Copy of Passport
  • Copy of I-20
